Professional Experience
Melanie Fialkowski is a Partner and Criminal Defense Attorney at Hirsch Law Group with more than two decades of experience in criminal law. She began her legal career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County, where she spent 13 years developing extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and law enforcement practices.
For the past 13 years, Melanie has dedicated her practice to defending individuals facing criminal charges ranging from traffic offenses to serious felonies, including DUIs, drug crimes, and weapons offenses. Having tried hundreds of cases before judges and juries, she brings extensive courtroom experience and a deep understanding of both prosecution and defense to every case. Melanie is committed to protecting her clients’ constitutional rights and providing strong, dedicated representation throughout the legal process.

Community Involvement
For more than 10 years, Melanie Fialkowski has been dedicated to supporting Anti-Cruelty, a Chicago-based organization committed to protecting and improving the lives of animals in need. Her involvement extends beyond general support, as she has opened her home to animals by serving as a foster caregiver for cats and kittens awaiting their forever homes.
Melanie also serves as a member of the Anti-Cruelty Volunteer Council, further contributing her time and support to the organization’s mission. She is currently fostering a litter of kittens and continues to give her time and care to animals in need. Her longstanding commitment to fostering and volunteer service reflects her compassion for animals and her dedication to making a positive difference in her community.
Outside of her legal practice, Melanie is a passionate University of Illinois sports fan and proudly supports the Fighting Illini. She enjoys following Illinois athletics and cheering on her alma mater. Go Illini!
