Hirsch Law Group represents clients throughout Illinois in criminal cases, including matters involving driving under the influence. The firm’s experience provides a firsthand view of how impaired driving can affect drivers, passengers, families, and the surrounding community. Preventing these incidents requires people to recognize the risks and take practical steps before someone gets behind the wheel.
The Hirsch Law Group Scholarship invites students to consider the role they can play in those prevention efforts. Applicants must create a short video discussing how students can help discourage drunk driving in their communities. One recipient will receive a $2,500 scholarship to support their education.
Applications must be submitted through the form on this page by January 15, 2027.
The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited college, university, trade school, or graduate program in the United States.

Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Communities: What Can Students Do?
In your video, present several courses of action that students can take to discourage drunk driving in their communities.
The response should offer more than a general statement about the dangers of impaired driving. Applicants should identify specific actions students can take and explain why those actions may be effective. The video should reflect the applicant’s own thinking, address the prompt directly, and communicate the proposed ideas clearly.
Applicants may use research, statistics, or examples to support their response. Any information or materials taken from an outside source should be properly identified.
The video should be approximately two to three minutes long. At the beginning of the recording, the applicant must state their full name and identify the submission as an application for the Hirsch Law Group Scholarship.
The recording does not need to be professionally produced. Applicants may use a phone, computer, or other available recording equipment as long as the presentation can be seen or heard clearly. Editing software, captions, slides, and visual aids are optional. Camera quality, editing techniques, and other production elements will not be part of the evaluation.
All parts of the submission must be original or properly authorized. Music, photographs, graphics, and video clips must be created by the applicant, available for copyright-free use, or used with permission.
The video must present the applicant’s own analysis. Fully automated or AI-generated videos will not be accepted. Applicants may not substitute fake actors, AI-generated presenters, cloned voices, or fabricated individuals for their own participation.
Once the video has been uploaded, its privacy settings must allow the scholarship reviewers to access it. A YouTube video may be listed or unlisted. Applicants are responsible for providing an accurate, working link with the application.
The deadline to apply is January 15, 2027.
The complete form and all supporting materials must be received by that date. Late applications will not be considered. Applicants are encouraged to apply early enough to address any problems with file uploads or video access.
Reviewing the applications may take up to three months. Hirsch Law Group cannot respond to individual inquiries about application status during the review period. Only the selected recipient will be notified.
Applicants must read and accept the full Terms and Conditions included with the application form. These terms address minimum age, enrollment, U.S. residency or authorization, academic standing, originality, and the collection of basic information needed to administer the scholarship.
The firm will collect the personal, contact, and academic information requested in the form. This information will be used to review the student’s eligibility and application.

Submitting false, incomplete, or misleading information may disqualify an application. The same applies to work that is copied, reused, or presented as original when it was created by someone else.
Applications will be reviewed after the deadline. Reviewers will consider whether the submission follows the stated requirements and provides an original, thoughtful, and clearly communicated response to the prompt.
Decisions will be made without regard to protected characteristics. Only the selected recipient will be contacted. The recipient must be willing to participate in an interview before receiving the scholarship.
The $2,500 award will be sent directly to the recipient’s educational institution.
